Merit-Credit Competition

I will scratch your …

I mean your back

You scratch my …

… I mean my back

I will give you a Like

You give me a Like

I will give you a Thumbs Up

You give me a Thumbs Up

Online, offline, be it wherever

These are the rules of the game

I am OK, you’re OK; both healthy

And all is well with the world

Even though losers go on and on

About the problems in the world

We play by the rules, and so

My merit will go up

My credit will go up

Your credit will go up

Your merit will go up

Together, both of us

Will win the competition

We will earn the position

That we don’t deserve

I mean, yes we actually do

Deserve on our very own

Then we will go pay our respects

To the billionaire, God bless him

For giving us all his all blessings

May he prosper forever and ever

And may he bless us in the world for

Doing well in all adult competitions

All Hail the Gods of Meritocracy!

Let’s launch a #hashtag as an offering

In his honour, so he gets eternal glory

We all get our prasad and our lollipops

After the fall of the causality frontier

Just as punishment determines crime

Our success also determines our merit

That is why we have the word loser

Psychopathy – 1

the-hindu-psychopath-cartoon-08-03-17-light

(The Hindu, 8th March, 2017)

Poor The Hindu! It is trying very hard to establish its neoliberal credentials and to please the powers that be for years now, but it is still cursed for being anti-Hindu.

***

To provide some context, this ‘cartoon’ was published in The Hindu a couple of days after my mother suffered a major stroke, which she barely survived and which left her paralyzed and cognitively impaired, not to mention other problems.

Initially she was couldn’t move even her right arm and leg. All of us were desperately looking for some signs of movement in at least her right arm and leg. So perhaps you can imagine how I felt when I looked at this just the day I got back to Varanasi, where I work.

Rule of Law is Dead

Long Live the Rule of Law!

It is dead in various ways.

Someplace, it is dead as dodo.

Some others, it is dying fast.

The remaining, it is on the deathbed.

It was a sickly child when growing up.

It became a fake version of itself later.

Just like the case of liberalism.

Not to mention neoliberalism.

Might is right makes a big return.

Might is the rule, and the law, in 21C.

Investigation and execution as well.

Right of might is also back with a lash.

(Not surprisingly)

If you have fake liberals.

And you have fake lawmen.

With their fake legal transactions.

(Legal or extra-legal, what’s the difference?)

What did you suppose to get?
